Felicia Melcer is so excited to be offering voice lessons at the Breakthrough Theater. She has loved having the opportunity to perform at the Breakthrough Theater, and while she's enjoyed every show she's done here, recently playing Violet in 9 to 5 was a highlight for her.

Felicia has been teaching private voice lessons for over 30 years. She received dual degrees in Vocal and Theater Performance from Fredonia State, followed by Graduate work at University of Buffalo in Adult Education. Simultaneously, Felicia has loved the opportunities she's had to perform.

For 10 wonderful years, Felicia performed in both classical and Musical Theater venues in Upstate New York (such as Lancaster Opera House, Sheas Buffalo, and Niagara Falls Dinner Theaters). Some favorite roles in this time include Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, Fastrada in Pippin, Tisbe in a Rossini Experiment and Inez in No Exit. During this time, she also taught at the Chautauqua Institute in New York and was named the Director of the Buffalo Ensemble Actors’ Conservatory which was linked with New York City's Circle in the Square. Each year, BET mounted a Backer's Showcase Audition they took to NYC, and Felicia had the opportunity to Direct and Act in these exciting plays.

When she came to Florida, Felicia had the chance to teach at Rollins College Community School of Music for 9 years and served as the Coordinator of the Early Childhood Division of the School for 5 years. She went on to open her own music space (Central Florida Music Studio) in 2005 which served hundreds of students of all ages and abilities in Music (vocals, piano, drums and violin) as well as theater until 2020. CFMS was a wonderful safe space for those pursuing a career in voice and theater, as well as adults and children who wanted to use singing as a tool for self-exploration and creative expression.

In 2018, Felicia spent a wonderful summer doing intensive training in Musical Improv at IO Theater in Chicago. This opened a world of possibilities for her, and in addition to the shows she wrote and mounted for children, and recitals she did with all ages, Felicia ran Musical Improv classes and shows with adults. It has been especially gratifying to see many of her students cast in local productions, as well as performances in New York,Los Angeles, and Nashville.

Felicia LOVES the opportunity to hand tailor lessons to each person's goals, abilities, learning styles and musical preferences. She can't wait to set up a plan with you!
