Superior Thespians: A Musical Showcase

From the Orlando Sentinel's Matt Palm:

Talented high-school students will be given the floor at Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park to show off their skills this January.

More than 50 students will participate in a showcase of the events that earned them Superior ratings at their District Thespian Festival in the categories of solo, duet and small-group musical.
...
The students represent 15 schools from three districts. As the Breakthrough announcement points out, this is the only opportunity — besides at the actual Thespian Festivals — to see all this talent in one place.

The showcase will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 7 and 8, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9.

Tickets are $15 general admission, and $10 for students and senior citizens. A portion of ticket sales will go to the students to help pay their fees to attend their State Thespian Festival.

Reservations may be made by calling 407-920-4034.

Here’s a list from Breakthrough Theatre of those scheduled to perform. You’ll see in their selections, some picked songs from lesser-known shows so the showcase is not only a chance to see tomorrow’s musical-theater actors but to hear some works that may be unfamiliar to you.

What they're saying about this show . . .

"She spontaneously works the crowd," says Doug Mackey of Tacoma. "Every show is different." Mackey and his wife Lynn have seen the show twice. "I am amazed by her ability to make the audience so comfortable and how involved some of them get," Mackey says. "She even had an 80-year-old man dancing on stage!" ~ RENTON MAGAZINE

"I am afraid words escape me in trying to convey to anyone just how much fun this show was. If you have done anything in this year you feel you need to reward yourself for, this show is that reward. Don't miss out. Aunt Dottie's Cabaret is not just a show, it is an experience." ~ Jerry V.
