Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park

About Us

Wade Hair, Breakthrough Theatre's artistic director, had a dream: to own and operate his own theatre. In November 2007, Wade was diagnosed with stomach cancer. At the time, he was a thirteen year teacher with Orange County Public Schools. After being diagnosed, Wade's parents, Sid and Annie Hair, decided to make his dream come true, by leasing a building, and turning it into a theatre for their son. This theatre became the Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park.
The Breakthrough Theatre is completely run by volunteers, including Wade Hair. All actors, directors, choreographers, and technical crew volunteer their time for the love of theatre. Wade's goal is not to make money, but to share his love of theatre, and to share the shows that he personally loves, with the Central Florida community.
Though the theatre is owned by Sid and Annie Hair, they leave all artistic decisions to their son, for this is his dream. But you'll usually find Sid selling tickets or working the parking lot, and Annie behind the concession stand.
